AC Surge Protection Module Kit is an AC surge protection (type II) adaptor kit for the SMA Sunny Tripower Core1. AC surge protection is necessary to protect electrical equipment against voltage surges. Also called overvoltage and lightning is a well-known example of this. However, overvoltage protection creates potential equalisation which leads to neutralisation of the voltage differences. As a result, all connected solar panels and inverters remain undamaged. Type II only protects in the event of indirect lightning strikes.
